SARIS AND SHAWLS OF INDIA

Through the Eyes of Leena Sarabhai Mangaldas and Anjali Hutheesing Mangaldas

curated by Aditi Ranjan

Gallery 03 presents a periodically refreshed selection of rare saris and shawls of antiquity from across the country. Most of the textiles here, were woven and crafted in the early 21st and 20th century, and some of the Kani pashmina shawls from Kashmir, can be dated to late 19th century. This panorama of over 77 saris and shawls from all over India is an attempt to explore the deep connect shared between the hands that traditionally made textiles and the communities that used them.
